Faolchú Club Championships
Entry forms are now available for the competition along with a cover poster to give details of the events and age groups.
Make sure to get one from us at your next class as all entries must be in before the event. We are not accepting late entries or any entries on the day.
Each student may enter 2 events and will leave with at least 2 participation medals so it is well worth while taking part.
We intend to try and recreate on a smaller scale the feel and rules etc. of a normal competition, to give each student and their parents an introduction to what that may be like. Competition is a usefull tool to improving Kata and fighting skills and boosting confidence, so we are encouraging everyone to give this in house competition a go.

There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and a participation medal for those who do not place.
The Tuam Karate Competition will be held in The Indigo Holistic Healing Centre, talk to your Instructors for details on the event.

Competition in Co. Sligo
Jayden Murphy entered a novice tournament last Sunday in Sligo. He was unfortunate to be placed in the age group above his own due to his height and having previously competed. In his first continuous bout there was a 5-5 draw by the end of the match, this caused extra time to be added. There was a close fight and Jayden was not victorious on this occasion, the wee guy who eliminated Jayden went on to be the overall winner.
Jayden is our only club member who is currently training in kickboxing although we hope to change that before the year is out.

First Club Grading
We had our first grading last Saturday, which was a huge success.
Sensei Scott Langley held two classes, in Kilconly Community Center, just outside Tuam.
The childrens' karate was excellent and those who were in the under 8's class performed excellently, especially given their level concentration and skill displayed on the day.
The second class comprised of a mix of adults and children and was both a challenge and fun experiance for every level and age.
28 children graded on the day and everyone one passed without difficulty with many double grading.
Well done to everyone, we are very proud of you
