Sensei Matt Price Visits Tuam

Faolchú Karate Club had the pleasure of hosting Sensei Matt Price in Tuam, Co. Galway.

Sensei Price makes an annual visit to The West Coast of Ireland, each year bringing current and new training methods and information from England, Japan and the top elite WKF events worldwide.

There where 4 training sessions across the weekend. Saturday was an intensive 4 hour session which was split into a morning kata session and afternoon kumite drills.

Empi and the rarely taught Chinte where the focal points of our kata session, along with coaching on how to present kata in a confident and relaxed manner.

The advanced kumite session was a technically based session where we ran drills and built up scoring profiles. The floor was open to questions and during a topically based afternoon we explored how to fight various opponents like how taller and heavier fighters can be bested and how to deal with a light agile fighter.

Sunday had three 1 hour sessions where classes where divided by age and grade, with the youngest students from 4 years old.

Children participated in fun filled activities and drills where they developed speed and good karate technique, all in a light hearted environment. Both students and parents praised Sensei Matts training methods and warm personality. 

Next years session has already been booked!

Dates for the Diary

Lots happening over the next six weeks a busy and exciting time planned.
Our hoodies bags and jackets are now available to order, this is your only opportunity to order hoodies, jackets and bags. Final payment must be in for orders by November 14th.
Please take a moment and note dates of the uncoming events so that you don't miss out.
First we have this weekend,
Sunday the 9th of November is our final squad training of this year.
Orders will be taken after squad training for those who qualified for free hoodies, jackets and bags.
We have 2 tournaments coming up,
Sunday the 16th of November is our Annual Faolchú Inhouse, this is for all Faolchú students entry forms and details are being handed out this week and trophies and medals are ordered. Final entry is the 14th of November.
Sunday the 23rd of November is our Little Wolves Invitational. This is a competition for 4 to 8 years olds, with Faolchú and some of our friends.
The weekend of the 4 - 6th of December is our club gradings. Notes will go out this week with details.
December 16th is our final class before Christmas.
And will we have our Christmas Cinema day in Tuam Mall Theater on December 21st

Sensei Matt Price 6th Dan will be instructing at Faolchu Dojo, Tuam on Friday the 4th of April.

Matt Price is a living legend and after his previous visit to Tuam all sessions are almost completely booked up. Amongst his achievements15 times Grand Slam Kumite Champion and current Jks England Squad coach he will be here for one night only.
17:00 - 17:50 Little Wolves ages 4 to 8 years
18:15 - 19:15 Age 9+ under brown Belt     
19:30 - 21:00 Brown & Black Belts.
